The HANAC Corona Senior Residence goes above and beyond in responding to New York’s demand for safe and affordable housing through innovative and sustainable building design, including passive house.
The project fosters an intergenerational community through the inclusion of a prekindergarten on the ground floor, administered by the New York City School Construction Authority, which provides 54 slots for students. The eight-story building in Corona provides 67 affordable apartment units to low-income seniors, including 21 units set aside for formerly homeless seniors.
HANAC congratulated all partners and team members who worked on this project, including:
Think Architecture & Design, Bruno Frustaci contracting, New York Engineers, Cuono Engineering, Association for Energy Affordability Inc., NYC Housing Preservation & Development (HPD), Enterprise Community Partners, CHASE, Chicago Title, Goldstein Hall, James Mitchell, then-Queens Borough President Melinda Katz, Councilman Francisco Moya, and former Councilwoman Julissa Ferreras-Copeland.
