The Child and Family Counseling Preventive program, is funded by NYC’s Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) and is designed to assist families in ensuring the safety and well-being of their children through collaborative efforts between family members, schools and community service providers. The emphasis is strengthening family unity and empowering families to achieve their goals.

We are committed to supporting families and children in their efforts to overcome stressors and triggers that often impact their overall well-being. HANAC provides counseling addressing many concerns such:

  • Domestic violence
  • Child abuse/neglect
  • Parenting needs
  • Conduct disorders
  • School issues

We provide a range of clinical services for children and adults. Treatment plans are created to address individual and family needs, in order to identify and apply an effective treatment plan that is family driven and addresses the needs of the family overall, with an emphasis on safety and stability for the children as well as the entire family structure.   HANAC has created a supportive network with community service providers that are also available to the families and children, if additional services are necessary.

The HANAC team is well trained and experienced. The program has on staff a Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor, a Masters in Social Work (MSW) and Certified School Counselors.  The HANAC team is aware of and respectful of, the many cultural values and traditions of families, and provides an empathetic supportive setting to address any concerns identified.  HANAC provides counseling in English, Spanish and, Greek. Outreach is also conducted to support families in their efforts to work with schools and community providers to ensure the best services and resources are identified and available are in place for their children.

The HANAC Child and Family program is easily accessible by public transportation and has hours of operation conducive to the availability of the families.
