The HANAC Astoria Beacon, which is funded by the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) services 1050 participants a year from ages 6 and up. Programming is designed to assist participants acquire the skills and attitudes they need to graduate from high school, succeed in their chosen career, and give back to the community.

Our goal is to bridge the gap that exists between the community, parents, and schools. We provide a safe space, a familial atmosphere and treat each participant as an individual to foster growth and resiliency. The HANAC Astoria Beacon and their staff empower the participants with what is needed to become successful, productive members of the community.

You can make a difference! Program participants, parents and adults from the community are welcome to join the Youth Council which meets quarterly. This forum allows for discussions and recommendations related to programming and activities, topics of interest to the program and its participants.
